"1992" is the first ep from Petrified Minguz. Better late than never as this ep almost didn't make the cut. Recorded right after hurricane Sandy in the wee hours of the night with nothing to do, Turtle Handz and Kiza beats reflect on what they know and knew to be hip-hop. Both huge fans of the golden era, neither has changed styles to feed the masses, you can call it the senior circuit of hip-hop if you want. Staying with the formula big fast beats, big bass lines, & rapid fire lyrics that you'll never get. "1992" just may bring you back to the future or leave you tasteless, in other words "You can get with this, or you can get wit that".
"THE DISCONTINUATION OF THE SOUND YOU KNOW"
For well over fithy years, jazz music and hip-hop music have flirted with each other on numerous occasions. When jazz artists began to experiment with sounds beyond free jazz and the avant-garde, they unknowingly helped plant one of the important seeds for hip-hop music. Hip-hop artists returned the favor in the 80's, 90's & the new millennium, sampling some of the most respected music in the jazz catalogue.
In 2013 Turtle Handz & kiza Beats (Petrified Minguz) continue this blend with a dose of old, new & next skool of beats and rhymes. This is the discontinuation of the sound you know, it may not be the jazz hip hop you've grown to know. Straying far to the left as possible this is thatavant-garde stuff that gets slept on, don't sleep on this one.
